When do you think you'll leave the smartphone at home because you have an iWatch 4G, able to call, facetime, check stocks, facebook, this very thread, even the time of day. Perhaps also being able to navigate by wrist flicks as well as touch, make payments in the real world using your iTunes account (restaurants, gas stations would have to sign up, or via in-app-purchases), or playing angry birds.
Or maybe Android will snap this market first.

Never. The entire idea of a tech watch seems incredibly 80's now.
I don't think any of the people I know with a cell phone even wear a regular wrist watch.

We have an `iOS' wristwatch now. It's got touch, but not iOS (yet).
Having a full-blown iOS on a watch reminds me of the times when people tried to put calculators or day timers on watches. I just don't think it's a good idea. That's also the reason why I didn't get another iPod nano: it's more of an iPod shuffle with a screen than an iPod nano. My last iPod nano had a screen that was actually useful

Wrist watches? I, for one, am glad I don't need to wear such a thing anymore.

Plenty of technology from the 70s is being refactored into their Internet age equivalent. I cannot name an example, but failed product categories from the 80s should have an equal chance, specially if you are in the crossroads of liberal arts and engineering.

Biggest problem is, is that while yes people have often had stupidly expensive watches, a 32 gig iPhone costs approximately 800 dollars without a contract. I would never want to wear something that expensive on my wrist which could get banged into any number of things. Not to mention the fact that keyboard based communication is a HUGE aspect of the iOS.
I would say that perhaps a bluetooth remote with a touch screen could be useful as a remote and quick display but as a full interface, no thanks.
