I have this old G4 mac mini that I just did a fresh install of 10.4 on. Then I copied over OS 9 from a very old computer. I haven't gotten around to doing anything else yet, but I will be later today. So there's no classic pref pane in system prefs. If I try to open an OS 9 app, will it just work? Or is there some other piece of the puzzle I have to install to get that OS 9 to work as classic?

Did your computer come with a DVD labeled "Additional Software & Apple Hardware Test"? If so, you can use that to install Classic. Otherwise if you've already got OS 9 installed on your iMac, it should work according to Apple:

That's odd, if you've got the OS 9 System Folder on the hard drive, the Classic pane should be showing up.

Have you tried blessing the system folder?

sudo bless -folder9 "/System Folder"

It's funnier if they don't already know where the link's taking them.

If you add the link with BB code ("[ url=http: //this.site.com/stuff.htm ]Link Name [ / url]" but without the added spaces), you can name a link anything you want to.

I'm quite curious what Classic stuff you want to run, l008com.

To prevent naming of links: Compose your reply in Advanced, and uncheck the box to "Automatically retrieve titles from external links". That box keeps defaulting to checked. I fixed it once, then a vBSEO update unfixed it. I'll fix it again eventually.

Or as Glenn said, use the URL tags to explicitly choose the text to display on the link.

In your post, Railroader, the board used the link title "Yes you can!" But in the quoted post by bstone, it used the page title. I don't see any way to make sure the board doesn't change link code in quotes, but it really shouldn't.
