Has she ever done any film or TV series where she hasn't played a tough, tom-boy type girl, probably with guns or other weapons?

Lost, Machete, Bloodrayne, Battle: LA, the Fast & Furious films, Avatar, Resident Evil and SWAT all fit the same template.

Is she a pony of the one-trick variety, or is there a back catalogue I don't know about full of Jennifer Aniston type rom com movie roles? I just get the impression that if they made Marley & Me 2 with her in it, she'd shoot the dog in the face.

Yes I know there's this thing called IMDB, but whatever. I made a thread instead.

A. She's a man
B. I wouldn't necessarily refer to her abilities as a "trick"

I guess it doesn't help to point out that her first lead role was Girlfight.

Why ? Would checking IMDB take longer than posting this thread ?

Because tv and movie titles don't tell you what type of role she played and because this the ****ing Lounge. It's the perfect type of discussion for this place.

Not sure what you mean.

Yes, I actually saw that movie, although admittedly I don't remember much. As expected, it wasn't very good. I think the worst was the bad CG.

I just remember passing it on USA at like one in the morning and her being the same mannish abrasive personality as in any other movie.

Lots of people get typecast in Hollywood. Either they like it - in which case they tend to have a safe mealticket, at least for a few years - or they don't, and actively fight it. Some do both - Jennifer Aniston is an example of that, with some movies being basically Friends ripoffs (there is one with Ben Stiller that even follows the script of a single Friends episode fairly closely) and others where she's trying to break out of the mold. I guess Michelle Rodriguez is one of those that like her typecast role.

Definitely a tomboy, but if you ever did get to rub skin with her you'd better have good health insurance.

I have a different answer for 'from the neck down' and 'from the neck up'

As for Vasquez, I mean Rodriguez, I would, and if I did not survive it would be a very happy way to go.

After perusing her photos on Google Images, I'd like to upgrade my opinion to "Definitely Hot" and "someone I'd like to have a beer with". Are girls who command respect not lavished anymore?
And if she appears butchy and mad in movies, that's because the film director made her do it.

I'm sure that her girlfriend feels the same way.

She be hot, no doubt. But especially hot in a Vasquez sort of way.

There is a huuuuuuge difference between "very adorable" and "hot". That's not high standards, unless we're talking about definitions.

As for Rodriguez, this thread started about her personality (or that of her roles) and I would say they are neither adorable nor hot. Same goes for her face. But yes, she has a very good body, though it's too muscular for my tastes.

So "daintiness" seems to be a requisite for "hotness" in your definition.
You don't know how feminine Rodriguez might be in real life (the closest you can get to knowing is by watching her interviews). What you see on TV and movies are merely what Hollywood has mandated she acts up. That's not a way to judge a person's personality.

Well what the **** do you want from me? I can only judge on what I've been given. I wouldn't blame any woman for thinking Christopher Walken or Steve Buscemi as creepy.

You disqualified her from hotness for her muscle tone, which is not excessive at all.

Watch or read some (effing?) Michelle Rodriguez interviews. She actually comes up as a hot, relatable, girlfriend-material, serious person.

She strikes me as a very active, aggressive person. These are not "relatable" to me.

Her wikipedia entry just oozes turn-offs.
She dropped out of high school but later earned her GED; in total she was expelled from five schools.
Between 2002 and 2008, Rodriguez was involved in a number of legal issues, mostly relating to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
In March 2002, Rodriguez was arrested for assault after getting into a fight with her roommate.
In June 2004, Rodriguez pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to three of the charges: hit and run, drunken driving, and driving with a suspended license. She went to jail for 48 hours, performed community service at the morgues of two New York hospitals, completed a three-month alcohol program, and was placed on probation for three years.

Edit: She is very attractive here though:

That's...at least 50% of everyone on the small screen in the US today, or thereabouts. Friends is an excellent example there again, where only Lisa Kudrow played someone significantly different from themselves.

You're seriously using Friends as an example of current American television? How far behind is Sweden, exactly?
