Anybody else sweltering? Leaving the house is like stepping into an oven right now. A steam injected oven, with the humidity. As far as the weather man can tell, there's no end in sight.

I can't wait for fall.

As long as I know I can get into climate control at some point, I don't mind it being hot. OTOH, fall, winter, and most of spring just kick my ass.

If it was practical, I'd move to Florida in a heartbeat.

Edit: as you may surmise, I don't mind humidity either. Swamp > desert in my book, but dessert beats both.

I understand I'm in the minority, and the knowledge I can get into AC is vital. Without that, I'd pick less humidity.

Part of it may be because I'm a sweaty bastard regardless of the humidity.

Middle of Indiana here. Supposed to hit 96° today with about the same number in humidity. Heat index is way over 100°. Walking out of the house is suffocating. We have a 50/50 chance of rain today, and I'm rooting for the wet side of the equation.

DC.....80 degrees at 7am. 85 percent humidity.

This Thursday, Friday and Saturday we get around 100 degrees and 95 percent humidity.
Glad I don't do roofing or paving in this.

high of 92 *F today, should be no problem since its not humid here and I plan on taking a trip to the mountains on my dirtbike... where it should be high 70's low 80's I love this state...

We're getting 92.5ºF in the shade here on the SE side of Indy (where the suburbs turn to corn fields). 75% humidity. Our blacktop driveway hits 140ºF with my infrared thermometer.

It's hot in nyc, but not too humid 90F 40% humidity. It's supposed be brutal this weekend - and I have to go to a roof party.

Good thing I plan on getting sh*tfaced, otherwise it would be too hot for that sort of gathering.

We've had three solid weeks of mid-90s and high humidity.

I've been building a large barn the whole time, just got finished roofing last week. So all of you complaining about how hot it is as you scurry from AC to AC can go straight to hell.

ºC: 0º= mildly chilly - wear a coat 100º = you're dead
K: 0K= everything's dead! 100K= pretty much everything's still dead

Which scale would we prefer to describe weather?

Well, actually,

ºC: 0º= freezing.

Very, very simple. Below 0, there will be ice. Above 0°, probably not.

Below 0°, it will snow. Above 0°, it will rain. Around 0°, probably sleet.

If the ground has been below 0° for a while, whatever falls from the sky will probably stay frozen or freeze over. If it's been above 0° for a while, it will probably melt.

Since our weather is largely based around water, using something as completely arbitrary as the Fahrenheit scale just seems like a willfully stupid thing to do.

No, it's not - it's either below 0°, or it's not. If ice/snow melts, it's above 0°.

Unless you're talking about "sunny" as in "t-shirt weather". Then, the freezing point still has meaning, as a contrasting point: "remember how ****ING COLD it was just a few months ago!?"

FWIW, winters here can be quite sunny and still ****ING FREEZING.

Really I think it's just a matter of what your were taught or grew up with. In school and working with GM all measurements were in metric, but temperatures have always been in ºF.

I did study architecture for a while, so I understand feet, yards and inches though too, but I prefer metric just because the math is easier.

Not necessarily. Depends a bit on altitude/pressure too!

See? Your 0° is every bit as arbitrary as my 0° when it comes to describing how effing cold it is outside on a sunny winter day!

FWIW, I think it's really just a matter of preference/what you're used to. I don't think having an arbitrary anchor (freezing point of water at 1 atm) is really any better/worse than having a 0-100 scale where most ambient temperatures fall in inhabited places.

Hence my desire for a usable range which is a factor of 10. Can't really help it if that's teh silly.

While true, that doesn't impact everyday use in any meaningful way whatsoever.

Any difference less than a single degree is completely useless outside of a scientific setting, and guess what's used there?
