Winter’s officially over in Edmonton as last of city’s snow melts | Daily Brew - Yahoo! News

According to the Edmonton Journal, the city has announced the final remains of last winter's snow pile at its west-end storage site officially melted at 4 p.m. last Saturday.

Edmonton has five snow-storage sites holding the product of clearing efforts from major roads through the winter. Last winter was longer and snowier than usual. By January, crews had stockpiled more than 900,000 cubic metres of snow, compared with the annual average for a whole winter of about 800,000 cubic metres.

The city's yards are now ready for this winter's accumulation, which could start as early as November.

This just about sums it up:

"Sometimes I miss Alberta," apparent expat Pat Kiernan tweeted. "Sometimes not."

I was hoping this had something to do with Game of Thrones season 2.

Calverson moved to the US, so not any active or memorable users that I can think of.

It's cool that they stockpile it. After some filtration to get all of the street gunk out, it can be a great addition to their fresh water supply.

I agree.

The Frogs had loads of snow last winter, then loads of rain. There was still hose-pipe bans even before the summer. Talk about a piss-up in a brewery.
