Wow. Cancer.

His illness was no surprise, but you kind of hoped he had stepped down with enough time to enjoy his family and freedom.

Thank you for everything, Steve. You enriched the lives of humanity in so many ways, and we're all immeasurably better off because of your contributions.

Having had the immense pleasure of working at Apple years ago, I can tell you first hand that Steve's influence on the way the entire world communicates will never be reproduced. He was a man that cared more about ensuring excellence in the products than making a quick buck and that is why Apple is the company it is today.

My instincts tell me that he put a road map in place that will enable Apple to realize many of his unannounced visions for many years to come and the people who are now running the company will respect his wishes.

RIP Steve Jobs. You will truly be missed.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

************************************************** ***********

RIP Steve

It's been years since I last came here, and I'm no longer the Mac-zealot I once was. But it seems appropriate to come back here to discuss this. My formative years, online and off, would have been very different if not for this man, and all told, I do think he affected my life for the better.

Rest in peace, vision guy.

That is a damn shame.

Cheesy as it is, I'm reminded of Blade Runner. "The light that burns twice as bright burns for half as long."

I'd give a sentiment that I hoped he left this earth satisfied with what he had achieved, but I get the feeling he probably always had one more thing...

My wife told me the news when I got home a few minutes ago. I really can't believe how saddened I am by his loss. Considering I never met him he had a rather large impact and influence on my life and the world already feels like it is missing something.

I hope he didn't suffer at the end and wish the best for his family and friends.

This seems amazingly fitting, almost prescient, as good a eulogy as it was an ad campaign.

RIP Mr. Jobs.

I just checked woz.org, me and a million others and it's not loading. Not sure what I expected anyhow. Imagine being the graphic designer who had to put that notice up on the website, and wonder how long ago it was prepared.

Farewell, Steve.

You did something amazing for the world of technology.

Rest in Peace

The man changed my life, since the late 70s his name has been in my head.
His influence, his genius, his wonderful tenacity to get things done- all in one beautiful human being.

I don't doubt that before he stepped down, Jobs would have left Cook and others with the original schematics for his Reality Distortion Field. His legacy will live on for many years to come.

Ditto on the statement that he'll be missed.
