Steve Jobs Was Always Kind To Me (Or, Regrets of An Asshole) | The Wirecutter

I slammed Gizmodo a lot over the iPhone 4 kerfuffle, so I want to give some equal time for apologies.

It's pretty damning to Denton & co. that Lam says he should have quit right after the first story.

This just angered me. Gizmodo has such poor standards for journalism, and Lam just confirms that by admitting it himself. Gizmodo isn't really even a journalistic site, it's more of a blog these days.

I'm past the anger part, so this makes me feel happy I didn't waste that anger on an unworthy target.

Be that as it may, Gizdodo, nor will any of its parent sites still won't get any traffic from me.

Lam quit Gizmodo.

The fact that he's come around doesn't rehabilitate Gawker.

Gawker has so many strikes against it, I even avoid the parts which have measurable worth, like Lifehacker.

I also should say, my thread title isn't very good.

I posted it as "Brian Lam's Mea Culpa", and then realized the overall response would be along the lines of "who?"

Since I had such a short window, I just tossed the word "Gizmodo" in there. This is, of course, the opposite of a Gizmodo Mea Culpa, so, sorry about the confusing lead-in.

Edit: ironically, I'm sure this is the kind of lame thought process that goes on at Gawker.

Yep. Lifehacker was the only Gawker site I visited, albeit, irregularly.
The redesign pissed me off. I know you can switch back, still.

I go there maybe once a month, when I'm bored.

It has nothing to do with Brian Lam and everything to do with Gawker. They were dicks about the whole iPhone thing, so they lost my (admittedly little) respect over that. Then the password fiasco showed me that none of the Gawker sites were to be trusted.

Supposedly, their back-end team is woefully underfunded, which shows you where Denton's priorities are.

Then things got a little bit uglier, and dicier, and I don't want to get into that stuff on a day like today because my point is that he is a beautiful and fair man and probably not used to not getting his way and he was clearly not getting his way on this day.
Some salty remarks calling into question the chastity of Mr. Lam's mama, perhaps?

What would remain of it after Steve sent over the Apple SWAT team.
