Very late to the party on this but been OD'ing on a marathon catchup from series 1 and it really is most excellent.
BBC Three - Being Human
Not many programmes could take a murdering vampire, make him a sympathetic character, have him massacre 24 innocent men, women and children AND still have the viewer sympathise with him.
It's one of those shows that I'm going to be so gutted when I'm all up to date.
Can't speak to the US remake, but I'm guessing it looses something in the translation.

I'm hooked on both the BBC and the American SyFy Channel versions. They're both really good and their differences make the viewing especially fun.

They changed the names of the characters for the US version (maybe in case they wanted to do a crossover ep?) but the characters are pretty similar, at least to start with. Storylines seem to be diverging more and more as time goes on but I concur that both versions are good and worth watching.

Thought Series 1 was spectacular. Series 2 a little less so, but still compelling. Just completely lost interest during series 3.

I haven't kept up with the UK version, but loved season 1. I tried the US version, it was very well done, but some of the plots were just too similar and the suspense was lost. Conversely, I also didn't like the things they changed.

I thought the US version of Skins was terrible.
Also when Torchwood was brought to the US it was terrible. I'm solidly of the opinion that most people think that the things that Americans like are what makes TV terrible to watch.

The penultimate episode this season of the US show, holy ****. I got around to watching it and
what a mind screw for Josh. Damn, that has to push him over the edge.

That's the problem with trying to discuss US policy with foreigners who are only here to argue. We take
these issues to heart, because this is our country and we love it, they're here for the entertainment value.

The UK version was terrible, too.
The cute accents just made you want to overlook it somewhat longer.

I hadn't spotted it but he's Crashdown from BSG. Saw him in an ep of something the other day but can't think what. Checking IMDB I still can't think what unless it was NCIS. Odd to see he played a walker in The Walking Dead.
