So I paid for iTunes match mostly because I'd found that after my last software restore I had tons of tracks I used to have on CD that had their ends cut off in iTunes. So I was like, well whatever it's 30 bucks easier than re-ripping all my old CDs I'll just pay for iTunes Match. So I just deleted my library and decided I was going to download everything new from the iTunes store at the higher bit rate that Jobs advertised.

Now I'm not sure if this is just a Canada thing, but I'd say over half my music is still showing up in my library after being deleted but keeps asking me to locate. Wasn't the whole point of iTunes Match supposed to be that iTunes in the cloud kept a copy!?

Did you delete it before you signed up for Match?

No. Turns out you have to:

Delete, and then delete but don't tell it to delete it form iCloud and then it'll give you the option to redownload it. I just figured it out. Ugh, this is dumb.

It just struck me that iTunes Match sounds like a dating service.

The only issue I have with iTunes match in Canada is the lack of Movie re-downloads. Love that its there for TV shows. I started buying digital copy of TV shows because I can re-download them and access them on my iPhone and AppleTV and don't need to keep a computer on with iTunes to get it to the TV. But I can't do that with movies so wont buy movies until its a option. Other then that its a great system. Love it a lot now.

I got match so I could move a whole lot of music off my laptop and also have access to everything on my phone.

Turns out I never listen to music on the phone anymore due to the data cap on my device and I never seem to have a net connection on the laptop when some music would be good.

When it expires I'm going back to the old way, with a (much) bigger drive in the laptop storage is no longer and issue and I'll just keep local playlists on the phone again.

Overall match killed my listening to music almost stone dead.

How big's your cap?

(I don't have a solution, I'm just curious at how UK carriers are screwing you)

Here is the stuff I like about iTunes Match
- Safe Backup of your music and play lists
- Few questionable songs get turned into legitimate songs (iTunes Match pays out to artists)
- When redoing a computer all the music and playlists are restored (well access to anyways) The play lists is a big thing
- The streaming to AppleTV with out having a computer on now
- The space saved, I have a small SSD drives running things now.
- Ability to access the same music from OS X, and Bootcamp and at Work by just logging into iTunes

5GB, but most of that goes on data when I'm actually doing my job during the month. There's not a lot of headroom for music.

I just load the phone up with podcasts now and listen to voice audio all day.
