For all our Australian friends out there, keep safe this summer. Looks like you are in for a hot summer. If Tassie which is considered to be wet is having issues with bush fires then you know the rest of the country is in for a torrid time.
Remember if the authorities tell you to leave, the GTFO.

Warm day here today. It got up to 42°C (108F) at 4pm. It's currently 36°C (97F) at 8.50pm.
And the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (who suck at locating meteors BTW) have added a dashing new colour (purple) to their charts for next week...
... because the weather in the middle bit might go literally off the charts.
Attention tourists: This is not beach weather. This is stay the hell indoors weather.

Having lived in Australia on and off in the past this is some serious heat heading your way. That the weather people are adjusting your heat scales mean you are in for a bad one.
