Hi,

I'm having a problem understanding how to export MPEG-2 video from my video editing programs directly. Right now, I'm stuck exporting to an uncompressed format, then opening the movie into QuickTime Pro, and *then* exporting that to MPEG-2. Two steps instead of one. For video "editing," I'm using iMovie. When I go into the advanced export options for QuickTime, the MPEG-2 codec is not listed. I have Adobe Premiere 5 (and installed DVD Studio Pro for OS 9 to get the codec installed into OS 9), and experience the same problem: MPEG-2 is not listed as one of my codec choices. It's listed when I export from QuickTime Pro, so I know it's there. If somebody could help me find the right export option in my video editing software, so I don't have to wait 8 hrs X 2 to encode something, me and my computer would both really appreciate it.

Thanks a bunch,
Richard

I've not found a way to do this either. I have to export from iMovie to uncompressed Quicktime and then do the MPEG-2 encode from QT Pro.

However as the MPEG-2 encoder will only work on a G4 and, if you just leave it too it without the preview window open, runs faster than real-time you will need a long movie, and a lot of disk space, for it to take 8 hours to do the encoding.
