I download proftpd for my OS X Server, but it refuses to work . every time I try to boot it it says this "Server - Fatal: unable to determine IP address of `Server'." Is there any way I can tell it it's own IP in the config file of proftpd? This is probably happening because the server is on a LAN.

yes, I know OS X already has a built in FTP server software. But I wanted a more customizable version, so I downloaded one.

ftpd is very customizable. Using the ftpd.conf, ftpchroot, and ftpusers files you can do most anything.
