I read a post just after 10.2.3 was released that someone had a big drop in framerates for games. I checked this in UT and definitely agree. My PBG4/550 went from 70 fps down to 40-50 fps. My older Pismo dropped from 30 fps to 20 fps after the upgrade from 10.2.2 to 10.2.3. Is this something with OpenGL 1.4? Someone else said they thought WCIII was speedier. I can't tell on that one since you can't get framerate info. Does everyone else agree? The good news is that mounting a disk image takes 1/2 the time and I guess there might be some improvement in other aspects of the GUI.

Bummer

Framerates jumped in UTX from average 50fps to 75fps at 1025 x 768, full detail for me. Giants, Wolfenstien and JKII all seem to run about the same, if not better. But I havent checked the actual FPS on those games.

My Ti667 (VGA) exhibits a lot of choppiness in DVD playback since upgrading to 10.2.3 when adjusting volume or brightness using the F-keys and pulling menus down. My DP Quicksilver at work doesn't exhibit this problem, nor does a Ti667 (VGA) running 10.2.2. My game framerates have also dropped noticeably since the update, great stuff.

I only play Quake 3, and for me the frame rate is now about 91 fps on the timedemo.

This is running at 1280x1024 with all detail and quality settings set to max.

I can't remember what the old performance figures were, but I am contented nevertheless.

Macmames' open GL plugin is getting on a bit, maybe richard banister will tweek his blitter to work with it?
Quake and it's varients seem just fine, maybe faster

This is correct. Apple made a lot of changes to the OpenGL (rev'd to 1.4) and graphics systems in 10.2.3

All OGL game should see better framefrates. If you are seeing worse numbers then please report it to Apple giving them the game title and your hardware setup. (Use the OSX feedback page.)

not sure man, but i know in all of my games, that use FSAA but tis not in the game option I look in the .cfg files for like radeon fsaa "0" or something liek that and set it to 1 instead of 0. had to do it for Jedi Knight 2. Thats all I can think about. nvida i belive is the same way, i saw a nvidia fsaa "0" in the cgf file also. for jk2. maybe I should reinstall unreal tournly havn't played it in ages.
