I just installed xfree86 from the official binaries. It quits on startup with the error message:

Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/, removing from list!

could anyone tell me how to fix this?

How did you install it? If it was form the tarballs, you probably missed a few, or you tried to install them manually instead of via the XInstall.sh script.
