What is the best/easiest way to transfer files from my PowerBook to my iBook? I'm getting my iBook later this afternoon and want to know how to transfer the files from now so I don't waste time not playing with the iBook later .

Can I just hook up an ethernet cable?

Thanks in advance.

Target disk mode is probably the easiest. When you boot a Firewire machine holding down the "T" key, it comes up as a Firewire drive, which you can use like any other.

You can also use a ordinary ethernet cable (Doesn't have to be a crossover) to connect the two machines. Make sure that file sharing is turned on in the system prefs and then just 'connect to server' under the finder 'go'.

I transferred about 14GB of mp3 files from my wife's computer to my PB which was in Target-Disk mode. The whole transer took about 1/2 hour roughly. The only thing I had a problem with was that I had disabled the boot keys and holding down the 'T' wasn't having an effect. Once I fixed the security, it worked like a charm. Make sure that you 'Eject' your Target machine before you disconnect the Firewire cable.

Target disk mode is definitely the easiest and fastest...
