I am trying to server my website off my computer. Mainly because I'm too stingy to get .mac.

Well a set it all up easily. Then I tried to add a blog to it and it just wouldn't work; it said the ftp address could not be found. Eventually I noticed that my ftp address (and http address) changed every time I logged on to the internet. Dynamic IP. So I can't use a blog because if I enter my current ftp address it'll change the next time I restart. Not to mention that no one will be able to find my flipping cryptic address. Its http://wnpgmb02dc1-res-71-17.mts.net right now. Those last two numbers are part of my IP and therefore change. Is there any way I can get a static address for it or force it to stay static?

At first glance it looks like a perfect fit for dyndns.org. You can get the client here http://clients.dyndns.org/mac.php?service=dyndns

I hosted my website at place that wanted 15 bucks for MySQL database access. So I point all the PHP refences to my hostname at dyndns.org and Viola! postnuke ran wonderfully.
