Hey all, is there a way to have the system ask me for a password when it wakes up from sleep? Kind of like NT does with the CRTL + ALT + DEL deal to enter in the password? I'm running 10.2.3 on a dual 1.25 in my office and want to lock it down as tight as possible.

Many Thanks,

Josh

Use your screensaver - set up a hot corner to activate it in sytem prefs then just set the power manager to sleep after a couple of minutes - if it goes to sleep with the screensaver on then when it wakes the saver will still need a password to deactivate.

You might also want to download the firmware download to stop people booting your machine from another drive or a boot cd which will bypass all your security (esp if they boot from os9)

I have a link - i'll be back when i find it.

I am using an app called sleeplock. What it does is start the screen saver after the computer is woken up. Then the screen saver is set up to ask for the password before it will go away so they can't get it. it isn't perfect but it works well enough for me.

Try Keychain Access. From that app, you can make a icon appear up in your menu bar, (along with Airport, iChat, Sound, Time, etc.). It will allow you to lock your computer (it will automattically turn on your screen saver), and remain logged on. Then, set your power settings to sleep within 15 min. of screen saver activation, or something.

It would be nice to just be able to lock the computer or have it automatically lock when it sleeps without the screensaver being involved at all.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.
