I was just looking at versiontracker's Alpha Centauri page, and I saw a post by Brad Oliver of Westlake saying that there was a beta of an updated, Carbonized, Alpha Centauri!!!

I was shocked, I'd never imagined they'd Carbonize SMAC. But then the awful truth came out - the www.mac.com page where he hosted this update went down(presumably because of Apple's BS).

Please!!!!!! If anyone has this, could you send it to me? crayz@hotpop.com or I can go on AIM and have you send it there or anywhere else.

PLEASE. Someone needs to find this. I love this game and it would be incredible to have a Carbon version.

For the love of God if you have a Carbon updater for this game do not, I repeat, DO NOT post confirmation here!!! If you do, I will track you down and force you to send it to me! The last time I launched this game I thought to myself "I'll just play it for a weekend. Yeah, a good 48 hour fix is all I need. That's the ticket." THREE WEEKS LATER it was time to shower and start looking for a new job.

JLL - WTF are you talking about? Westlake ported it originally, and they generally don't go porting stuff unless they are getting paid, which generally means they have the porting rights.

So, does anyone have it?

I emailed Brad Oliver at the only address I could find for him. I pray that he can send me the file. If he does, I'll host it up for anyone who wants it.

This game ROCKS. Civ3 has some advantages in some ways, and this game in others.

But...Civ3, no multiplayer. Multiplayer in SMAC is shady but God its so much fun.
