I upgraded to 10.2.3 and restarted the machine. The computer restarted fine. I immediately plugged in my ZR20 Camcorder because I've had problems in the past w/ Updates killing my iMovie/Camera. In 10.1.2, it worked, in 10.1.4 it didn't, same for 10.1.5, 10.2.1 didn't work, but 10.2.2 fixed it. So, I plug the camera in, and what do you know... it DOESN'T WORK. iMovie doesn't detect and the computer gets all sluggish. So, I restarted because my G4 466 just was acting horrible. Now, my restart takes FOREVER. It hangs on the grey start up screen for a real long time. The timer just spins and spins. Then Jag finally lauches after like 5 minutes or longer and I get the weirdest error. A box pop's up after my desktop shows up, with a white exclamation point inside a red stop sign shaped box.
In bold, the text says: HeaderOfDallasPartialInsert
under than in smaller text it says: StringOfDallasPartialInsert

then the blue aqua button says: ButtonOfDallasPartialInsert

What the hell? No one seems to know what this error message means. Is it my memory maybe?? What should I do? I haven't done anything at this point, and I'm not pressing it until I hear otherwise.

HELP!!!!!

Keep in mind... that prior to the update, my Mac ran like a charm. Running OS9.2.2 and OSX on the same partition. 1.25gig of Ram.

You need to boot from the 10.2 disc and run DISK UTILITY. Repair all errors and repair permissions. Continue to repair errors until it says the disk is okay. If this does not work, backup your data and perform a format-install of 10.2.

Worry not, appeasement-loving infidels! Chirac & Schröder defend the Butcher of Baghdad.

You're not gonna believe this. But read this thread about this problem. I haven't fixed it yet as I'm at work. Even IF It's my speakers.. my Mac runs like pure crap now.

Whenever there is a problem one should always try to go back to the most basic system, as I would name that a kind of golden rule.

That would mean disconnect whatever is possible, like printers, eternal devices i.e. speakers, harddrives, cd-writers, scanners, camera's etc.

Remember the Extension Manager or Conflict Catcher in OS 9? You could apt for a Mac OS 9 Extensions only, just to check if it would work then.
Of course we don't have that anymore in OS X, but it is the same idea.

Also get out the extra RAM you might have inserted later is something you should consider.

Of course, Repair Disk and Repair Permissions always has to be considered, as well as DiskWarrior.
