Hey,

I have a few dvds around and I like to watch them on my travels. Any way I can leave the discs at home and somehow extract the files off a dvd and play them without a disc?

There are several programs that will make unencrypted disc images of DVDs. Some that come to mind are Fair Use, DVD Backup and 0Sex.

http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/ has a tool which supposedly rips DVDs to DivX, you might like to try it.

have you tried using Toast to create an ordinary disc image?

I had made a note to check out DVD Backup but I haven't been able to find it on version tracker or through a Google search.

Where does one find it? I'm not sure of what forum rules are on posting this kind of information, btw. But it would be great if there's a way you could share it.

It gives you the option of not decrypting the keys and it will still be playable in Apples DVD player.
