I've read in various places, that Perl excutables are to be placed in a specific directory for access through the browser. Could someone tell me how (if it's possible) to setup various cgi-bin directories. When I currently try and execute a local script throught the browser, the code is displayed, but nothing is executed.
Just my $.02 :-)

Put your perl scripts in
/Library/WebServer/CGI-Executables

access them via
http://localhost/cgi-bin/<script name>

where script name is, obviously, the name of your script.

Make sure that the script is executable:

chmod 755 <script name>

To set up other directories to allow cgi execution, you'll have to edit your
/etc/httpd/httpd.conf
file. Open it up, do a search for ScriptAlias.. hopefully you can figure things out from there. If not, follow up here.

What if I want to be able to execute cgi scripts from various locations. How would I enable http://localhost/~eric/cgi-bin to be able to execute cgi scripts? What about directories in level or two lower?
