I'm currently visiting my mother and step father in WA state so my powermac is several thousand miles away. I am forced to use my step dads eMachine running WinXP via dial-up. When I tried to sign into .Mac it continuely simply redirected me to the login screen. I tried again...again, back to the login screen. Through messing around a while I discovered if I click on the account option at the top of the log in window and then entered my password it took me to my account info. I could then click on the "home" option and then select webmail and it would take me to my e-mail account. WHY??? Why would it not allow me to log in the other way? It makes no sense. Anyone have similar experiences? I don't know if it's the computer, the OS or the connection that is causing it. I have had no problems doing this on a PC running Windows 2000 back in Illinois...hmmm...maybe it's the state!

There have been a few threads on the .Mac members only Apple Webmail discussion group in the Apple web site, discussing similar problems where people cannot access WebMail from a Windows machine. The Apple support can only come up with try the URL http://webmail.mac.com, but people had no success with it, and then the Apple support guy didn't have any other solution...

It sounds a bit like the .Mac Webmail would work on any machine as long as it runs on Mac OS...

Hi,

I'm also visiting family here in WA (Port Orchard) and experienced exactly the same thing on an HP running XP Professional. I set my account up as IMAP in Outlook Express which works perfectly. Also, Netscape worked for a while, but later that evening I wasn't able to log in just as IE kept me from doing. Go figure...

I never understood the "cool" idea of the webmail of Apple. They are so way behind things in this aspect, while Yahoo! and even M$ with Hotmail are just running millions of clients all over the world, for years and years, for free.

I have a .Mac account but never use webmail from it. Yahoo! simply works better and faster. I don't have to enter my password two times...

Are there any filesharing programs on that PC which may have littered their spyware?

That could cause that problem.

I've heard of IE 6 causing those problems with other webmail systems and other similar services. IE 6 just seems problematic in general.
