I can't boot from the HD which was caused right after I "upgraded" to 10.2.3. Now I can't even boot from the CD(Jaguar). It throws me into text mode with lots of error messages. I thought booting from the CD was ALWAYS possible. Someone said the machine somehow does not recognize the drive. OS 9 still works

maybe wipe out the whole drive? It happened to me once. I did a complete clean thing using tech tool pro. it somehow deleted all the folders in my hard drive and put all the files into the hd icon. so, I booted into 9, wiped everything,a nd started anew. and here i am today. Well, maybe just (somehow) unistall all the mac os x stuff (folders and what not) while in 9? I don't know, wait for some other users to reply.

I put a V-TECH sticker on my iMac DV 400 and i'm burnin' Geo Metro's left and right.

Before doing something drastic like wiping the hard drive, I think it would be best to try the simpler and more non-destructive solutions first.

The first thing I'd try would be to zap the PRAM. To do this, hold down the Command, Option, P, and R keys at startup until you hear the chime again. Keep holding them down until you hear the chime two or three more times. Then try to boot into X and see if it works better.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
