If you goto a programs main menu, and goto services all the text is greyed out, ie. I cannot 'grab screen' or 'make new sticky note' any ideas?

My guess is that the offending application is a Carbon app that hasn't been updated to support the Services menu yet.

Each individual program has to be "services enabled". I'm not sure if that only counts for Carbon apps, but it would make sense. If the programmers didn't take the time to implement those functions (i.e. Microsoft w/ Office), then they won't be available to the user.

I think the Grab services are broken. I don't know how they work as services anyway since you usually need to have something selected to perform a service on it. Most Carbon applications (Adobe apps, Microsoft apps, Macromedia apps, etc.) do not handle services, and if they do, they don't handle them well. It's the onus of the Carbon application to know how to deal with services. Cocoa applications handle them automatically and handle them very well.

It's not broken. It requires that you can paste a TIFF into the current insertion point, like into a TextEdit document.

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

It should work automatically in Cocoa apps, though, of course.
