I haven't been able to send an email (through .mac of course) all night. I haven't tried homepage, etc., but www.mac.com is also down.

I'm gonna call apple and ask for a US$0.27 refund.

Seriously, I really did have some important emails that I wanted to send, but no dice. Oh well.

I'm also having trouble sending out e-mails. Hopefully things will be running in the morning.

Looks like it's better now. Here's what they posted earlier:

All,

Access to the .Mac Web site (www.mac.com) is severly limited at this time due to an unexpected outage. Apple engineers have been working on the outage since 1:00 PM PST on 1/1/2003, and we will update this status notice as soon as possible.

Although no user data will be lost, users will not be able to access Webmail, edit HomePage sites, or access paid, members-only support until the issue is resolved. However, iDisk, client E-mail, and other services not directly dependent on the Mac.com Web site should not be affected. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Here is what was just posted in the .Mac forum threads where people were complaining about the service being down:

All,

Comments such as those posted in this thread are not only inappropriate in regards to the .Mac Terms and Conditions, they also do not do justice to the many individuals who came in on their New Year's Day holiday to do everything in their power to resolve the outage (and who are continuing to do so as we speak). Our engineers are working as fast as they can, and we will update this forum as soon as the issue is resolved.
