Finally updated my 450 Sawtooth G4 to Jaguar and 10.2.3 last week.
Today plugged in an ATI Radeon 8500 (64mb) card to replace my old ATI Rage Pro 128.
None of my "games" work under OS X
Quake3 OS X 1.3.2 Blinks (could not initiate OpenGL, there does not appear to be an OpenGL supported video card in your system).
Oni OS X 1.0 Blinks and I'm back in Finder
Sacrifice 1.0.1 Refuses to run
Return to Castle Wolfenstein OS X 1.3.3 aglChoosePixelFormat failed
Couldn't start OpenGL
After many hours, I appears the ATI Driver installer update from ATI support is not being installed because I'm not running OS X 10.2.1.
In other words, I get nuthing for gaming with this video card.
Any ideas? Return it and go for an nVidia Geforce 2MX (if I coudl find one?)
This really bites.
My system is 1.5GB 450 AGP G4 (Sawtooth) with a 22" Cinema screen. Appreciate any tips.

When I first installed my Radeon 8500 I installed the drivers from ATI. After doing so, none of my games would run. I then re-installed the 10.2.3 combo updater, and magically everything worked again. I think they updated the drivers in 10.2.3 and the ATI drivers are overwriting bits with components that are incompatible with the new OpenGL.

I have a 350 Mhz Sawtooth that I upgraded to a 8500 and a Powerlogix 1Ghz chip. Everything is great except for some coloring issues on fly out menus (from dock).

I got one last summer and it's been working fine. I didn't install any ATI drivers when I went to Jaguar--the card just worked.

I have a Sawtooth with an 8500, and it works fine - the ATI drivers are outdated in 10.2.3. Reinstall the 10.2.3 updater and it should fix things.

Are you saying to re-install the Retail ATI Oct drivers or that 10.2.3 drivers are better?

10.2.3 has a newer and faster OpenGL implementation, so it's better than the October update.
I made a similar mistake: I updgraded to 10.2.3 then went and installed the Oct ATI drivers afterwords. Oops! Re-installing 10.2.3 fixed it. Remember to read the "what's new in this update" folks!

Hey cool, that was what I was planning on doing if all else failed (actually I was going to go back to my virgin Jaugar and then re-update to 10.2.3.
Glad I can do it without all that mess.
And happy to see such a quick response from you guys, thanks!!!
