I just installed Jaguar on my Ruby iMac DV. this mac is used as my alarm clock, but how do I set it to automatically start up? (I woke up this morning with 10 min. to get ready )

also, where is appleworks?? I have appleworks 6 in os 9 but no Jaguar native copy. where do I get this? shouldn't it have come with os X? do I need to delete this copy, then run the installer again?

edit: smiley error

No auto start up or shut down yet I use MP3 alarm clock to wake my ass up. Its free ware and on VersionTracker and has never once crashed on me. I put it on my login iteams, i'me the only user so it auto login and it loads it when ever i boot, and then have auto reboot on after power falure on. So if the power goes out, it still loads back up when the power comes back on hope that helps.

AppleWorks was never included as part of MacOS 8, 9 or X. It is however, included with iMacs, eMacs, and iBooks.

If you have AppleWorks 5, then you need to buy a copy of AppleWorks 6.

If you already have AppleWorks 6, then it should still be in your "Applications (Mac OS 9)" folder. That version should work on OS 9 and OS X, but you'll probably need to download and run the AppleWorks 6.2.4 updater.

If you want, you can move AppleWorks to the OS X "Applications" folder, but it doesn't really matter where it is.

I'm pretty sure there's a 5->6 updater. Look around in Apple's old software updates area.

5 -> 6 was a paid update.

You're right. I was thinking of ClarisWorks 4.x -> AppleWorks 5.

that was a paid update, too.
not long after my dad bought our performa 6116 we upped to CW 4, and a little bit later they wanted us to pay $50 for CW 5, which was changed to AW 5 not long after. Same program, different name.

I do have 6, but this update should work. Thanks!

Don't upgrade now! Appleworks7 is coming out in 3 days and it's another big upgrade charge! Oh, wait, I just made that up, but it's about time. :-]

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

If you have Appleworks 6 for OS 9 all you have to do is run the 6.2.4 updater on the installed copy and then it will be ready for Jaguar. You can find the updater at Apple's AppleWorks site.
