Birthday in Address Book -> iCal: not a vcard-standard?

When I add a birthday in Address Book it doesn't show up in iCal. I hoped this would with the update, but not.

Is this not a vcard standard, as it is not a default when entering data, but instead you have to add this as an extra?

I lookedhere but couldn't find anything about yes or no.

I would expect that functionality to be part of iCal rather than AddressBook.

That said it's a shame that the AddressBook wasn't updated in 10.2.3 to do this

More feedback to Apple ...
Considering other threads about registering iSync etc. one would believe they melt these apps into one app, where they work all together like Entourage / Outlook.
