did I buy a (new) 0S9 license with my purchase of Jag?

Such that I could give my 10.0 copy away?

I can't find the disks if there were any that came with Jag, so I'd have to burn a copy of the old ones for myself. Just want to make sure I'd be within my license.

Thanks!

No, Mac OS 9 wasn't included with 10.2.

So what would I have done if I didn't already have OS9? Do they / did they sell it separately?

They offered it for free--actually an OS 9.2.2 CD (I think) for $19.95 shipping--just like iDVD2.

Yeah, my Mom is running OS8 still and was asking about upgrading to Jag. I was wondering if she'd have to buy both. So she can get OS9 now for $20 if she want's classic once she upgrades? (I guess I could send her one of my OS9 discs though since my new computer came with OS9 and my 10.0.0 disc came with OS9 and is useless now.)

Actually I guess that if they are shipping OS9 out for $20 that would just be the shipping and handling charge making OS9 pretty much public domain now and I could pass them out on the street.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

It doesn't mean that you can pass out copies of your Mac OS 9 cd.

I just hope that Mac OS X 10.3 will include a streamlined Mac OS Classic without the unneeded control panels and extensions.

JLL: Is Apple continuing to distribute OS9 (Classic)? I thought Apple is pushing its user base towards the OSX. Just curious even though I only have 10.2.3 running on mine.

You can buy 9.2.2 if you have Jaguar:

Um, no. OS 9 is NOT and NEVER WILL BE "public domain." Apple still retains copyright.

With OS9 selling on ebay for $50-$90 and more, I think every Jag owner should purchase a copy for $20 from apple and then sell it. This is the cheapest way to get OS9. After March 1, forget it.
