Why does limwire slow down my system more than any other application. I have trouble when limewire and IE are open at the same time. Or any application for that fact.

What in limewire makes it so slow and abuse my system resources?

Trash it and use Acquisition.

LimeWire is a bad Java app.

I agree,

LimeWire, should be renamed as

LameWire, it's that slow, and nobody one it shares, their all LEACHES!!!

I can't beleive there are No good apps for P2P file sharing for the MAC!!!

Morphies wants to charch Mac user just to use something that is free for PC users and is just as lame and lamewire.

Kazaa does the same, only it puts you on the Gnutella network (lamewires network) and not it's own's, Fastrack.

For Music i use DrumBeat from download.com and for all file sharing purposes i use Virtual PC/Kazaa lite and then drag 'n' drop them to my Desktop.

There is no Kazaa client for Mac except for Neo, which has nothing to do with Gnutella.

LimeWire isn't slow for me; I just can't find what I want.

XNap is good if you want music.

You might want to try DirectConnect. I've heard god things from others, but it crashes on launch on my system.

I personally don't get good search results with it. I like its speed, but it doesn't find me much of anything. Am I doing something wrong maybe?

Get rid of LimeWire and Acquisition. Why? They suck, I liked Acquisition til it stopped working for me, and then I discovered DirectConnect. It's a billion times better and it has a ton more files. And it's written in Cocoa instead of crappy Java like LimeWire. Head over to www.neo-modus.com and check it out.

Mostly because its written in Java. Java pretty much sucks for a full blown app if you ask me.

Me too. I don't get intelligent results with Acquisition. Its search system needs serious overhaul. It also connects to crappy servers (dunno why) and generally fails downloads.

I havn't used it since 0.67 so maybe there have been newer and better versions since then.

How much RAM do you have? Limewire, while not a rocket is plenty fast for normal use but I'm on a MDD 1GHz with 1.5GB RAM. It's even fine on my G3 700 iBook with 640MB RAM though...

I'm using the latest Pro version.

You might also try using one of the various 'nicer programs to give LimeWire a higher priority when using it.
