i-tunes doesn't appear to be my default internet player, even though I've specified so in the preferences. I'm just getting a small mp3 player window instead. Maybe this is to prevent me from saving the downloads?

Also, Quicktime isn't streaming - it just downloads and then plays. The same files streamed fine in OS 9.

Any thoughts, oh wise ones?

I'm guessing it's pulling up a small little quicktime player in the browser window for the mp3 file. If so that means you need to right/ctrl click on the mp3 link and choose save link as or save as and save it to your drive. If it's doing something else please explain it in detail.

How long ago did you stream them in 9? Is there a chance that the file you're trying to steam is no longer a streaming file? If not let me know more about what's happening and what movie you're trying to steam.(Make sure to include a link!)

Hope this helps..

Many thanks for replying, Hew

The 'save link' idea has helped get things into i-tunes - well done. Surely it's possible for i-tunes to appear in the browser - or does it just depend on the file?

Is it just pot-luck as to whether a media file will stream or not?

I've downloaded W/M/P and RealOne so I feel kitted-out for most eventualities now - it'd be nice to use Quicktime as much as possible, but most content I've viewed so far - atomfilms, etc - prefers the other players.

It's great to know helpful folk are on tap from various parts of the planet - thanks again!

No, iTunes does not have a browser plugin. There is no reason for it to have one, either, since QuickTime already fills that fuctionality.
