can't install 10.2 on PB G3

	I'm trying to help my friend install 10.2 on her PowerBook G3. I think it is a Pismo; it has a bronze keyboard and firewire ports. Anyway, it has 9.1 installed. The install program boots fine, but hangs during the "Reading packages" phase between the Introduction and the Read me. I've tried two different 10.2 discs and two different CD drives. The spinning progress lines slow down to where they are only updated every 30 seconds or so and the CD just keeps grinding. I've let it go for more than half an hour and still nothing. Any ideas? thanks, kman
