Hi, does anyone know how I can get the Temporary Items Folder and Desktop folders from showing up on my external drive? Are these generated by X or Classic?

If I used a utility to hide them would X just create new ones?

They're generated by OS 9, and if you still have to boot back into OS 9 then I'm afraid the only way I know of to stop them appearing is to delete/hide them (using something like Path Finder) each time you boot back into Mac OS X. Actually, that holds true for the 'Desktop Folder'. The 'Temporary Items' one, however, will be created by some applications (as far as I can tell, Carbon ones such as BBEdit). However, if you hide it, the apps in OS X will still see and use it, but it won't clutter up your external drive. This is all based on the assumption that you use one of these drives as your home folder. if you don't, then that last part probably isn't applicable.
