Nothing against you time and effort or the thought that went into it, but the bookmark drawer was really lame and clumsy in OW and Chimera so I'm very happy to use Apple's iTune frames.

yes, please tell. I am giving Safari a fair shot and I prefer the drawer so I can still browse.

It's simple. All he did was add a drawer window to the nib file making the browser window the parent, put a list view in, connected the UI for the list view with the bookmarks database and added a toggle for the drawer in the menu bar.
In vino veritas.

Ok, I've been a bit busy.

So here's a sit file with the modified .Nib file and instructions.

The power of Cocoa. Truly. This can be done in about 5-10 minutes, even by somebody who just read a Cocoa book the previous day and knows very little about programming.

That's a pretty good start.

I wonder though. I'm gonna try and move that BookMarks Folder List (The other list you see when clicking the Bookmarks button) into the drawer too and instead of using the Bug button, use the BookMarks button to open the drawer. That would be a better solution and wouldn't remove the useful bug report button.

Actually, you don't even need to program
anything, other than connecting a few outlets.

Even easier.

Wow. I didn't realise this kind of stuff was possible with Cocoa apps... Don't like the bookmarks drawer either, but bloody impressive nonetheless.

I change apps all the time.

Usually its little stuff...like I also made the Add Bookmarks sheet a bit wider in Safari. Nothing big, but I just thought it was too narrow.

I removed Metal from iChat and made the controls take up less space than they did. The metal was just wasting so much space. I had to get rid of it. Now, if iChat's metal looked like Safari I'd be so happy. But Metallifizing it just doesn't work. The metal doesn't look the same.

I wish I could remove the brushed metal
from the iChat message windows...

I know where they are, they problem is
that they are a custom view (like iPhoto or
iTunes), and so it isn't as easy.

Nice bit of hacking there!

However, I hate drawers, so won't be using it. They're too small to be that useful, and OmniWeb's had a stupid habit of making everything folders when simply trying to reorganize the bookmarks.

Safari's iTunes-like way is sooo much better than anything else I've used.

Can't do that short of using Metallifizer. iChat automatically adds the metal look to newly spawned IM windows. You can't just turn it off in the .nib.
