I just came across this http://www.waferbaby.com/software/chimera2safari/ and figured i'd pass it along to all those who have yet to figure out drag and drop. It brings over chimera bookmarks into safari.

-it's web based-

I just used Chimera to Export the Book Marks as an HTML file, moved that file to Explorers Preferences folder as "Favorites.html", edited Safari's PLIST file to think it hadn't imported IE's faves and launched it. Then just put them in the right places..

Damn.. wish I had that. Oh well.

I have another one out now, called Howdah. Similarly alpha-quality at this point in time, but mine can do folders and the Bookmark Toolbar (this other converter cannot, at least as of this writing). I could use a few people banging on it, actually.

Howdah converted my 3k bookmarks.xml file perfectly. Only thing is the plist it produced was displayed in the browser (Safari). Not sure if that is Safari's fault or not, perhaps you could change the mime type that it sends so that a save to disk dialog or whatever Safari does is produced.

Not to be paranoid, but people should be aware that there may be privacy issues in uploading your bookmark file to an unknown person...

Millenium, why not just create a script to do this locally? Is the PHP source available?

I need to clean up the code a bit; then I'll be Open-Sourcing it.

The problem is, my source uses an XSLT stylesheet to handle the heavy lifting. The build of PHP which comes with OSX doesn't have XSLT support built-in. You can use the XSLT transform with any of a number of other tools, however (I used TestXSLT, which uses the same processor that PHP uses, and it's worked very well).

Actually, it was supposed to display the plist in the browser; I wrote it that way.

I have another question out on the boards at the moment, asking what the MIME type is for property lists. Once I know that, I'll make it save the .plist to disk.
