I'm a switcher and quite happy with my little 12" iBook 700 that I've maxed out on RAM.
I installed 10.2 as the only operating system on this thing.
Tonight I downloaded (about 4.5 hours) 10.2.3. Now I have two wonderful things on my desktop I don't know what to do with?
MacOSXUpdateCombo 10.2.3.dmg -- When I double click this, it says "MacOSXUpdateCombo10.2.3.dmg" failed to mount due to error -39. (No such file directory).
MaxOSXUpdateCombo 10.2.3.dmg 2 -- When I click this, it tells me there is no default application to open the document and I have no idea what to do from there.
Please forgive me if this is an easy fix that I'm just not seeing. But any help would be appreciated.

You shouldn't have two copies on your desktop. It sounds like the first one is corrupted. Hopefully the 2nd one downloaded completely. What did you use to download it?
Rename the first one (maybe put a " copy" after it). That way, you don't delete it without testing the second one. Now, rename "MaxOSXUpdateCombo 10.2.3.dmg 2" by getting rid of the " 2" at the end. It should end with ".dmg" and that's it. Disk Copy will recognize this and open it accordingly. Alternatively, you could open Disk Copy manually and select the image to mount on your desktop. However, just renaming it properly will work.
If the second one mounts correctly, throw away the first one as it's corrupted and won't do you any good. If it still won't work, let us know and we'll go from there.

Are you sure that you downloaded the whole file? The fact that you see two files usually means that the first download failed, you clicked the link again, and it downloaded the file again... Delete the " MacOSXUpdateCombo 10.2.3.dmg" file and remove the " 2" from the end of the other one's name. Then double click it. If you downloaded the entire thing, it should mount.
In general, if you download the same file multiple times, Internet Explorer will put numbers after the name. So if you downloaded it again, it would name that file MacOSXUpdateCombo 10.2.3.dmg 3. This is different behavior from the Windows version, where I think it asks if you want to replace the old file. Safari will do a similar thing, but instead of a space before the number it will use a dash.

You're right about 2 copies. It's late o'clock here so I'll have to try to fix it tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

'Tis done. Thank you for your help with such a basic little question. I'm learning the endings of these Mac files.
Thanks
