Situation:
Hello, I am running OS9 on my desktop Mac for Final Cut Pro running hardware that only supports OS9 and Quicktime 5. I'd like to install OSX Jaguar, but still be able to boot up in OS9 in it's current (before upgrade) status.

Question:
Can I upgrade to OSX, but still be able to boot up in OS9 running Quicktime 5 with all my current configurations? OSX will install Quicktime 6 by defalut, will this leave my OS9 Quicktime alone?

You can install OS X and have it leave the OS 9 alone.

The only problems you may have is if you want to run the Classic environment under OS X. This may want your to upgrade your OS 9 installation to the latest version and it will install some Classic specific extensions. This will not affect your QT 5 install under OS 9 though.

I'm assuming that you are using FCP 1 or 2 under OS 9. I'd recommend taking a serious look at upgrading to FCP 3 under OS X. The colour (sorry color ) correction filters alone are probably worth it.
