How do I add "usr/local/bin" to my $PATH?

Typing "setenv PATH ${PATH}:/usr/local/bin" adds it temporarily but I want to add it perminently as I can't run fortune without it being in my path. Thanks in advance!

You just have to write the command in your .login file in your home folder (if the file doesn't exist yet, just create it).

Says I cannot use a file name that starts with "." And when I make this file using just "login" it doesn't work.
