On 1/7/03 I downloaded Safari, the new browser from Apple. All seemed well using it. I really did not notice any problems.
I did have one incident where "CLASSIC" would not start but a repair of permissions fixed that.
I continued to use it for a day or so and then noticed Quicktime 6.1 was available for download. I downloaded it and all was well. When I tried to open Classic, the program started to load but all I got was "Classic is starting up" and a white classic window that would not go any farther. I quit it and tried running MacJanitor. As soon as I tried to run tasks it would crash. This happened over and over. Also Disc Copy would not work.
I blamed all this on the Quicktime update.
Nothing I could do to fix all this mess. I did a archive and install and all was well. As I still thought it was Quicktime I went to download Safari again and noticed a newer beta was listed (Safari 1.0 v51). I downloaded the newer version and all was well. Everything worked. After reading Apple discussions it seems that all the problems were associated with Safari and not Quicktime 6.1.
I updated to Quicktime 6.1 this morning and all for the time being seems to be well.
An Apple moderator in the Safari forum does in fact say that the newer release of Safari corrects the bugs associated with it.
