[Freeflyer]

Hi all,

I have a powerbook and currently have about half of the 60Gb drive full of my mp3 collection, ripped from my cd's.

I'd like to free up some of that space and have considered getting another hard drive for home use and backup.

However, I'm not sure how itunes will cope with having the collection unplugged everytime I take the powerbook away.

Can I have two itunes folders setup, one that stays on the powerbook hard drive and one on the external.

Would itunes automagically recognise the itunes dbase when the external drive is plugged back in.

Any help appreciated before i go buying hardware.

I've ripped all my CD's onto an external firewire HD. iTunes keeps the files listed in it's DB when you disconnect the drive, and if you try to play a file it will just ask you to locate it. If you connect the drive again, everything works fine.

what about sharing an iTunes library with different users... that would be so useful! Has anyone figured out how to do this? (I ran a search for "share, iTunes, users" b4 posting this question and located nothing).
