Using the Find Dialog to search my boot OS X (10.2.3) partition and selecting as the search criteria : Visibility – OFF, Date Created - TODAY and leaving the “File Name” selection either blank or removing it from the dialog box.
The search starts and some items appear in the search results frame. The little black and white rotating ring in the left corner then stops and the multicolored beachball appears in place of the cursor. I am unable to stop the search or use the desktop. I have to do a relaunch of the finder from Force Quit to regain control.
When I perform the same search on a non - active OSX partition everything is fine. If you use a name in the File Name box the search works OK. If you use a Date Created other than Today the search is fine. This makes it impossible using the finder, without entering a specific name, to locate invisible files on your boot drive created “Today”. Is this unique to my quicksilver desktop?
