hello guys,

i'm running 10.2.0 on my G4. I ran software update and downloaded the 10.2.3 combo updater. Downloaded the file, but then software update said something like

'Installation failed to complete. Download checked items to desktop..."

So i downloaded the installer to the desktop and ran it. It ran fine, got through all the read me, licence, destination select, until it got to the screen 'Click install to perform a basic installation of the software package'. I clicked install, but nothing happened! I waited a while, but no matter how many times i click install, it just doesn't do anything!

I even tried downloading the 10.2.1 standalone from Apple, hoping that i just got a broke 10.2.3 installer, but the same happens.

Anyone seen this before, or know what might be causing this?

Thanks.

I have failed on every attempt at downloading 10.2.3. One time it looked like it worked, but then when I tried to install I got the message something like 'missing archive file'. I think my problem is my pathetic 28.8 connection (even though it's a 56K modem), but I wanted you to know that I have been failing too on install after what I htought was a good download. I am really ticked off that I may end up having to pay 19.95 for a 'free' update that I bought a wekk after the update was available!! Grrrr

Yeah that's annoying. No broadband available in your area huh?

Anyway i've just managed to fix the problem i was having with my install. I created a new user with Admin privileges, re-logged in as that user, and installed with no problems.

I wonder what's wrong with my original account that installing doesn't work....
