I've been running an OS X Server for about 6 months now, and this past weekend I finally upgraded from 10.1.4 to 10.2.3. It's running on a G4/733 with 1GB RAM. I've searched around for some info but haven't come up with much so I figured I'd give posting a shot.
First off, I have several sites hosted. I've successfully migrated a handful of them to the new installation, all using name-based virtual hosts. I have a block of IPs that I can use and want to give a new site its own IP. I have configured the IP in the network control panel by adding the interface. However, when adding it via the Server Settings admin app, it gives me an error that a site was disabled due to an invalid IP. I've edited httpd_macosxserver.conf by hand, but whenever HTTPD is restarted, they are simply commented back out. How can I get more than one IP running under 10.2.3 Server?
The site that I'm going to be running will be using vBulletin. It's a heavily visited site and I have been trying to track down some more OS X-oriented performance tuning tips. I'll be using the MySQL and PHP that came with 10.2.3 as it already seems pretty well suited for the job. Does anyone have any experiences with vB and OS X that they would care to share?
I would have to say that OS X 10.2.3 Server is a *HUGE* improvement over 10.1.x. Right off everything seemed faster. I wasn't initially going to host the vBulletin site on my OS X box simply because I wasn't sure it could handle the 3-5GB/day load which is so resource intensive. Now that I've determined that I have more than enough for the job, I'd like to make sure it doesn't get overwhelmed. Thanks, everyone!

I think your problem is giving more than one external IP to one interface. I could be wrong. But either way it makes no sense, if you are hosting another web site off a virtual host off the same machine, I can't see any reason at all why you'd want to use a seperate IP? I host 4 web sites off my OS X Server and it has just one external IP. Also I read that you never wanna edit the httpd_macosxserver.conf file by hand! Also, even editing httpd.conf can cause problems. I suggest you either stick to Server Admin app and do no editing by hand, or in the httpd.conf, comment out the line that includes httpd_macosxserver.conf. Thats what I did. Now get stats via Server Admin but I can't edit any setting, I do it all by hand. And this way works alot better for me.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I now have 4 IPs running on my machine, all on en0. After adding the IP in System Preferences again, and accessing the new IP in the Server Settings app, I was able to enable the site. Since then, I've added 2 more sites with unique IP addresses. The reason for this is they use SSL certs which need unique IPs.
Also, I migrated the vBulletin site over and everything is running better than I could've imagined. 10.2.3 is tuned very well for this application and I only am getting rave reviews about the performance from my users. 80+ users on, intensive graphics, PHP, and MySQL and my load hardly ever peaks above 1.1. My friend's board, with twice as many users and peaks of almost 200 online at once is always pegging his load over 10 with his Linux machine on a Celeron 1.3ghz. Apples and oranges, but it looks like the G4 and OS X are up for the heavy jobs.
