Hello all,
I am in the process of backing up my HD in an attempt to format, remove partitions and then reinstall. I only need to backup user folders and mp3 collection.
The only option I have for backing up is the space left on a Windows 2000 PC - shared either by FTP or SMB (Window's sharing).
Now comes the crunch - I cannot copy the files because it throws an error on some (I guess illegal file name, containing odd characters - cannot be bothered to go through and rename).
I therefore need to compile them all into 1 file before hand. Do I use a disk image? Last time I tried this, the disk image was somehow corrupted on the PC and I could no longer open it after restoring the system. Some backup! Which leads me to my question, do I need to encode (hqx) the disk image before copying it to the PC? Also, is there a max disk image size that can be safely created and copied?
Does anyone have any software they can recommend for this purpose?
Many thanks,
Andrew
