Is there a way to stop the screen from anti aliasing. I understand that OSX used the pdf format to draw the screen is this what causes it?
When you are retouching photos if you use the sharpen function OSX blurs it back again and therefore doesn't give a true representation of how the image will look on other systems.
Can you switch it off?

Well, you could boot into OS 9. I didn't know Quartz Text Smoothing affected images...

Which program are you using, I've never seen this behaviour in Photoshop or ImageReady.

Also, if you like, you can turn this feature off completely in Preview (under Preferences) -- iPhoto doesn't seem to have such a preference (since the majority of the time, you'd want things to be antialiased).

Just view the images at full size.
