here it goes, i have a beige G3 266mhz w/512 RAM, i bought a mac/vga adapter and a new 17" samtron dyna flat monitor. now it only gives me one resolution 1152x870 and that is too wide and when i try to shrink it, it won't let me. it pushes it behind the "black" border.

this is a unique problem, someone try to help me out. i think the monitor is bad, but i should still get a higher resolution or even a lower opition.

oh, and i got a ATI mach64 graphics card wtih 6MB of RAM.

also, i have ran this same setup at 1280x1024 with os 9.2.2 with no problem.
as ever,
sonny

Huh thats ****ed. I checked this post cause I have the same setup - Beige G3 266, 10.2.3, and a Mac-to-VGA adaptor. Your adapter probably has a preset resolution on it (are there jumpers you flip or a wheel to turn?). mine has to be manually configured for each resolution. Assuming it's configured right and your Mac is being a bitch, uncheck "show modes recommended by display". If that doesn't work, and it DOES work in OS 9, set the resolution in OS 9 and then boot into X... the resolution SHOULD be saved in your PRAM.
