I have OS 10.2.3. I haven't tried personal web sharing since I had to fix it in OS 10.1, and now it refuses to start up. When I click start, it just greys out and says "personal web sharing is starting up" but nothing happens. Any suggestions?

overpriced, underperforming, but sleek nonetheless.

I also have a G4.

Yeah, you're httpd.conf file is propably broken.

Open terminal, and

sudo apachectl configtest

it will give you feedback on weather the file is ok.

Well, try to start apache with apachectl and see what it says.

"apachectl help" makes a nice start...

That is what the button in the PrefPane does, just without feedback...

Looks like there may be a permissions problem. I, humbled by my limited pseudo mac knowledge, have no idea how to solve this one. Thanks again.

Ahh, ok.
The simple, yet needing a booting, is to grab you 10.2 install CD, boot from it, and open Disk Utills from the Installers File menu.

From there, make a Repair Permissions.
As I remember, you can't do this will booted on the system, but try... (open Disk Utill and try, before booting from CD..)

Alright, i fixed it. I really appreciate your help! The problem occured when I installed Darwin Streaming Server, which I had running over port 80. This interfered with Apache, not allowing it to start. Thanks again, take care.
