My install dvd that came with my powerbook recently seems to have cracked. I say seems to cuz is has a dark thin line in it that wasn't there before but it's not all the way though. I'm too afraid to stick it in the slot loading drive since it might not mount and I don't hink I could get it to come out.
Any way I made a CD/DVD master disk image of it when I first got it as I do with all My important disks.
As I did not have a super drive I was wondering if there was a way to burn it to multiple cd's and would I be able to boot off such a cd If I need to install the OS again. I'm guessing probably not but figured I'd ask.

There is always a way to eject a CD/DVD if it doesn't mount. If you can't seem to get it out, hold your mouse button on startup. (For other methods that are faster or specific to your machine, see Apple's website)

There have been reports of cds shattering inside the drive when spining at 25X or more... This gets messy.
I think this is what he is afraid of.

Yep! I heard that to. Some kid got stabed in the leg buy a splinter of disintergrating CD shooting from the inside if one of them slot load DVD drives some PC's have.
Moral of Story: If a CD is damaged in any way don't put it in a drive, More than you have to any way.

Actually I had no idea such damage was possible thats pretty damn freaky. I was really just worried about being able to get the dvd out without taking the whole thing apart which ZackS convinced menot to worry about. I tried it and it did mount and eject fine. Don't know if I would have if I saw the crazy "kid mutilator drive" post before hand though.
Thanks for the info
