"You cannot install Mac OS X on this disk. This destination is not within the first 8GB of the hard disk."
I picked up this cheap beige G3/300 (which runs fine at 366) and I thought might perform better than the 8500/400 I'm currently using, as well as give me access to my 2 ATA drives I took from my G4/733 before I sold it.
However, when I plug in either of these drives, in either Master or Slave, I get the above msg. Both these drives already have OS X installed on them (10.1 on one, 10.2 on t'other) and although these installs won't boot the beige one, I was hoping to be able to do an "archive" install from CD, and be up and running...
Erasing the disks is not an option... there's too much stuff on them I can'y back up.
Any ideas? If the message is accurate, how about a Speed Disk optimise with a particular profile?
