greetings all - I want to install and use openoffice. when Apple X11 came out I downloaded and installed it. Installed Fink last night. when it got to select and install packages, I chose install all (hey I'm new). Now I see the following note:

You have an existing x11 installation in /usr/x11R6 and /etc/x11 . This package refuses to overwrite these. Remove them, then tell fink to install xfree86-base again. The package won't be recompiled.

If you want to keep your X11 installation, install system-xfree86 resp.system-xtools instead to make this known to fink's package system.

From what I've read this morning, I'd like to opt to remove the Apple X11. How do I do this? I tried a couple rm commands this morning - wrong so far.

Secondly how do I tell Fink to reinstall the xfree86-base again? Is is just Fink install xfree86 base [return]?

Can someone give me a nudge in the right direction? thanks in advance... Les

Thanks. . . I'm feeling much better now
